Van Gogh Sunflowers Print Portfolio
Description
Created exclusively for the National Gallery, this archival quality portfolio contains the two Sunflowers paintings in the Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers exhibiton. Each print is hand-finished with torn edges and embossed with a National Gallery stamp.
Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers (14 September 2024–19 January 2025) is the National Gallery’s first exhibition devoted to Vincent van Gogh (1853‒1890). It brings together two of his famous sunflower paintings, created in Arles and reunited at the National Gallery for the first time since they hung in the artist’s studio in 1889.
The London Sunflowers was sent to Van Gogh’s brother Theo in May 1889 and stayed in the family until the National Gallery bought the picture in 1924.
The Philadelphia "blue" Sunflowers was left initially with Van Gogh’s friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ginoux in Arles and was bought by Mr. Carroll Tyson, of Chestnut Hill Philadelphia, in 1935, before being acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1963.
