Every postcard bought in our shops, every membership purchased, every cup of tea sipped in our cafés, and every print ordered online raises money for the National Gallery.

As well as running the Gallery’s cafés, restaurants and shops, in Trafalgar Square and online, we also publish books, license images worldwide and hire spaces for entertaining. The Company acts as the Gallery’s agent for ticketed exhibitions and events and runs the National Gallery Membership Scheme. The income we generate supports the Gallery to care for the world’s greatest paintings – today and for generations to come.

Our products and books relate to the paintings in the Gallery, our unique building and location. We also sell other products and books that we think you will find engaging, useful and fun. Whether it be a souvenir of your first visit to see Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, an exhibition catalogue or a high-quality reproduction of Turner’s The Fighting Temeraire. Every single purchase you make from us supports the National Gallery.

We publish all kinds of books to support the Gallery, our paintings and our exhibitions. Our books help us share our research and our knowledge about the collection and our exhibitions with as many people as possible. You can buy all our books in our shops, online and in other bookshops around the world.

We have two main shops in the National Gallery, exhibition shops and an online shop with a wide range of permanent collection and exhibition gifts, books, prints and souvenirs:

Our shops are open every day from 10am to 5.45pm (Fridays until 8.45pm). You can browse our online shop anytime. We deliver all over the UK and to more than 80 countries around the world.

We also have a thriving international licensing business, extending image application on products and services across an extensive distribution network in the UK and around the world. Every license has access to the National Gallery's unique collection of paintings, including intricate and beautiful details. All images are in exceptional high digital resolution and colour matched. Our buying and licensing teams, production and marketing teams are available throughout the process to ensure quality control and alignment to brand guidelines. Building the brand and reflecting the ethos of the National Gallery is key in all our partnerships.

We work with Muriel’s Kitchen in our cafés and restaurant. Every cup of tea, every delicious lunch and every slice of cake raises money to help us share great art with the world. Currently, there are two informal dining offers in the building – The Espresso Bar and Muriel’s Kitchen, and our restaurant Ochre all set in the historic Wilkin’s Building.

Scholarly Waiver
We want to share our collection with students and individuals researching the collection. So, if you’re working on an academic book, journal, a lecture or presentation for schools or universities, we won’t charge you to use our images.
