Paulus Theodorus van Brussel is one of the most celebrated still life painters in art history. His iconic painting, Flowers in a Vase, is regarded as the standout work of this Dutch master.
Van Brussel was born in Amsterdam in 1754 and was first employed in the manufacture of tapestry. He later devoted himself to art focused on nature, and his fruit and flower paintings are true standouts of the genre, in particular his later work.
